AVCAT Scholarships

The Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust (AVAT) provides sponsored scholarships and Long Tan Bursaries. Sponsored scholarships are for the children and grandchild of ex-serving veterans, whilst Long Tan Bursaries are for the children and grandchildren of Vietnam Veterans and are available in each Australian state and territory. The Long Tan Bursary is funded by the Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

All bursaries and sponsored scholarships are for tertiary education and provide $4000-$6000 per year, for three years, to full-time students enrolled in a minimum one-year course at university, TAFE or RTO.

To be eligible, a student must be the child, stepchild, foster child, or grandchild of an ex-serving Australian veteran. Scholarships are awarded to students based on financial need and academic potential.

Applications open on 18 August 2022, Vietnam Veterans’ Day, and close at midnight AEDT on 31 October 2022.
