Welcome to Term 3

Opening Up

Spring term brings a different energy and sense of opening up after the long dark nights at the end of last term and the winter festival. This past week we have had crisp mornings and beautiful sunny days. During Term 3 we will have the chance to showcase the school and get together as a community in so many varied ways. We have a number of community events, learning journeys, performances and a working bee occurring across the term which will continue to bring us together as a community.

Class 12

Congratulations to the Class 12 students who presented their Viva Voce last Thursday to our High School and Senior College teachers. This was the first milestone for the students in this year long project. The students were exceptionally well prepared and passionate about their topics. All of them have overcome obstacles and challenges whilst remaining resilient and striving to continue to grow in knowledge and understanding of their questions. The hard work of these young people can’t be underestimated. We wish them well as they move towards completing, their practical work, as they continue writing their journals, and as they prepare to give their speeches.

College of Teachers

During Term 3 our College of Teachers will be working together in small groups looking at how we as educators work in age appropriate ways with the threefold development of the child. Rudolf Steiner empahasised the importance of achieving balance in the three different ways in which a person relates to the world. The focus will be to share how in Early Childhood, Primary School, High School and Senior College we work with thinking, feeling and willing. This is a wonderful opportunity for staff to work collegially and to showcase how we do this in individual classrooms and across the entire school.  Our teachers will be able to incorporate this knowledge from one another to continue to improve a key aspect of the Steiner philosophy into their teaching practice.
