A very warm welcome to all existing and new families to Early Childhood at Orana.
Now that the tears have settled for both children and parents a sense of rhythm within the classes are forming. The children are remembering to take their fruit and vegetable out of their bag and a few “I’m a big kid now” expressions can be heard.
Imagination is flowing, logs have become boats and many potions and cakes have been shared in the sandpit. Inside play is flourishing and the children are beginning to learn that not every item in the room needs to be used as it has to be packed away.
You may have noticed that your children are more tired than usual as their days are full. It is hard for children at this age to articulate exactly what has happened during their day and while they keep it together at school you might experience the odd meltdown at home. Please allow time and space for your children as it is a busy time in life.
We are so looking forward to the year ahead and sharing your child’s journey here at Orana with you.
With each leaflet we would like to share a little finger rhyme or verse. This one was adapted by happywhimiscalhearts.com
Here is a nest for the magpie (cup both hands together)
Here is a hive for the bee (put fists together)
Here is a hole for the bunny (make a circle with both hands)
And here is a house for me (fingertips together overhead)
A nest is a house for a magpie (cup both hands together)
A hive is a house for a bee (put fists together)
A hole is a house for a bunny (make a circle with both hands)
But a house is a house for me (fingertips together overhead)
