A time of transitions

After a restful and restorative Spring break, we welcome all Orana students and families back for Term 4. Canberra spring has well and truly arrived, and with it comes the usual unpredictable combination of showers and cold winds one day, and sunny skies the next. The gardens are teeming with wildlife and new blossoms, and every day we see fresh opportunities for learning, playing and growth around the school. From the Kindergarten children preparing to move on to Class 1, to Class 4 students graduating from the Strings Program and our Class 6 cohort ready to spread their wings into the High School, Term 4 is a time of transition, change and resilience building as our students prepare for the next phase of their schooling. We also begin to welcome the Pre-School children into the Primary School as they make their first steps to transition into their new Kindergarten spaces ahead of next year.

Term 4, as always, brings with it many exciting opportunities for students to immerse themselves in the life of the school. Class 5 and 6 are venturing out on their respective camps to Birrigai and Jindabyne, while Class 3 are heading back to Ingelara for another productive day out at the farm. This week, we were lucky to welcome back Musica Viva In Schools, this time with the Eastwinds program which focused on performers from diverse musical backgrounds and instruments such as the didgeridoo, drums, flutes and reed instruments. The Dance Program, run by Susan Innis from Dance 4 Fitness, returns for Classes 1 to 4 as part of our creative movement and dance program at Orana.

I wish all the Primary School students a wonderful term ahead.
