Art, Creativity and Handwork

Visual Arts

Our Visual Art students from Year 8 are learning the Elements of Art & Design concepts through researching ‘cultural patterns’. They have been exploring how different cultures use and apply symbolic shapes, lines and textures. This has been through an investigation of a monochrome palette and colour mixing using acrylic paint.

Our Year 10 Art students have been developing designs for their ceramic coiled vessels where they have been applying decorative designs inspired by music or poetry to develop surface texture and imagery on their terracotta work.

Exceptional Handwork

Janelle had the opportunity alongside her fellow Year 6 Students to practice her handwork skills when they were tasked with creating some small sections of patchwork. Janelle enjoyed this challenge so much that she went on to create a whole patchwork quilt, not only hand stitching many pieces together but then backing and finishing the project off with some wonderful machine work. What a wonderful piece of work!

Class 9 Metalwork

There seems to have been a few gates go missing around the school, but luckily it is not what you think. Our Year 9 Metalwork students have been working hard, learning new skills and practicing techniques to make our campus a more enjoyable and interesting place. By using bike parts, cogs and chains, the gates have been given a new lease on life so keep an eye out next time you are on campus.
