Our Book Week celebrations in Primary School have now come to an end. As we put our costumes and our favourite books away for another day, we reflect on all the fun and learning that was had. From book swaps to the Book Fair and buddy reading classes, to the Dress Up Parade and author visits, there was something for everyone at Book Week.
The Dress Up parade was a huge success and all the students took the opportunity to dress up, have fun with their peers, see their teachers in costume and perform on stage. Our Primary School teachers were the highlight of the parade, with favourite book characters such as the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter, Pinocchio, Dorothy and Snufkin making an appearance. Many thanks to our Teacher Librarian, Cheryl Sharkey, and all our Primary School class teachers for helping to make Book Week a resounding success.
We rounded off Book Week celebrations with two author visits from Shane Walsh-Smith and Lucas Proudfoot. Shane engaged our Upper Primary and High School students and teachers with an interactive storyboarding and sketching workshop. In addition, Lucas brought his entertaining stories for Kindergarten to Year 6 about life growing up on Country and traditional instruments in his one-man show. Finally, we have been lucky to welcome back the Musica Viva crew for our Primary School students, this time with their ensemble “Taking Shape”. Students in Years 1 to 6 enjoyed this collaborative and entertaining performance, as they were invited to be part of creating the music that was performed.
We hope all our Primary School students enjoyed the Book Week celebrations!
