In week 10, Class 3 went to Ingelara farm as part of our ongoing farming and gardening program. The children walked around the farm to see what crops had changed since we were last there. The pumpkins and some of the potatoes had been harvested and the garlic had grown a lot and have about five leaves on each plant.
The students ate the flowers growing on the beans and were surprised by how sweet they were. The children picked, cleaned out and counted the seeds in five pumpkins. Counting by tens for such a large number was the easiest way. They then fed some of the pumpkin to three bulls. The rest of the pumpkin, we took back to school and cooked up a soup for lunch on the last day. We look forward to returning next term to see how the farm has further changed.
