In the Coastal Geography Main Lesson, students study the different processes involved in shaping the coastline. Coastal landforms such as headlands, beaches, dunes, lagoons, tombolos, estuaries, are investigated through the lenses of depositional and erosional processes from wave action, tides, rising sea level as well as human impacts such as built developments and infrastructure.
The Field trip to the South Coast provides students with the opportunity to see and experience the coastal landscape that they have learned about in theory. It is also designed to prepare them for the creation of their topographic map, which requires students to link the elements that interact in a coastal environment with spatial features and cartographic conventions.
Physical education was also incorporated into the field trip – with surfing, stand-up paddle boarding and walks along the beach, dunes and headlands
