A very warm welcome to all our new and returning families in Early Childhood. It has been so wonderful to welcome the children into our classes and gardens. I really love the start of the year, there is a new energy and excitement abounds and whilst there may be a few tears, there are many smiles and exclamations of joy.
The children have settled well into the rhythm of the day in Early Childhood. Each class has a unique rhythm that allows them time to “breath in” and “breath out”, underpinning the core learning that is constantly occurring.
“The need for imagination,
A sense of truth and
A feeling of responsibility –
These are the three forces
Which are the very
Nerve of education.”
Rudolf Steiner
In our classes, self-directed play gives opportunity for children to delve deep into their imagination and immerse themselves in play, providing a platform for age appropriate and individual development of physical health and vitality. It also offers wonder and an interest in the world, for the inner readiness to learn and discover through personal experiences, for the ability to have meaningful relationships and for lifelong physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development. Children imitate and extend their skills through working alongside teachers and assistants by completing domestic tasks, partaking in the “work” of the class and instilling a sense of community.
We have two festivals this term: Harvest Festival and Easter Festival. Your child’s teachers will have further information in the coming weeks so be sure to check in with your child’s Schoolbox page for an extended view of what is occurring in class.
