From the Principal – Week 6 Term 2
Drama Performances
At Orana, our students are engaged artistically and academically in age appropriate ways to develop their skills. One aspect of this ongoing development is the energetic involvement in class plays each year from Class 1 right through to Class 12. Over the past 2 weeks we have had our Year 9/10 ACTUP Performance at the Canberra Theatre and in the Overture, our Senior College students have had one evening performance this week and will have their second performance next Wednesday evening. Year 8 are embarking on the traditional ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in the coming weeks.
Drama experiences from Year 1 through to the end of High School are fabulous opportunities for our children to find within themselves a unique narrative and explore aspects of themselves that may lay dormant in their daily life. Your support in attending and appreciating all the work that goes into the plays is highly sought. Details of performance times are in the newsletter.
Twilight Concert
We are in for a treat tonight with our second Twilight Concert for the year. Our Class 3 students are making their debut, and many Primary School and High School students will be performing a variety of musical acts. We welcome and look forward to your attendance in supporting these magical moments.
Reconciliation
Reconciliation week was established as a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Assemblies and classwork acknowledging this sentiment has been shared across the school in various formats in the past weeks, and we will continue as a school to open dialogue around these themes.
