Growth

It is hard to believe that we are in the final weeks of school, we have seen so much growth in your children from their first day until now.

As the holidays approach and the rhythm of school subsides, we hope that you will continue with your own family rhythm and continue to provide those loving firm boundaries that children need in order for them to be their best selves.

The classrooms in Early Childhood have set up their advent nature tables. Each day they add a little bit more to the journey of the animals to meet baby Jesus, it has reminded me of the mammoth journey your children are on. From their very first cry, their first solid food, their very first step and their first day at school, so much happens in that short amount of time. Once they start school the journey continues and for us as adults in our children’s lives we too are on our own journey, but it is one where we have to be present and alert to what our children need.

Unfortunately we are seeing more and more children that are needing that extra care in the classroom and it is important to seek support in the early years if you feel your child needs some extra support.

The ACT Government and I am sure most state Governments are providing services that parents can use or seek advice from if they feel their child needs some support. Below is a link to some very helpful resources for you. A Village For Every Child.

The phrase “it takes a village to raise a child” originates from an African proverb and conveys the message that it takes many people (“the village”) to provide a safe, healthy environment for children, where children are given the security they need to develop and flourish, and to be able to realise their hopes and dreams.

From all of us in early childhood we have loved being a small part of thay village and we would like to extend our wishes to all of you in the school community a very safe and  happy Christmas with your family and loved ones.

With Love

The Early Childhood Team
