Harmony Day was celebrated today and was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about different cultures, collaborate with peers, and celebrate diversity across the school. The day was filled with engaging activities that encouraged participation and creativity for Primary and High School students.
The morning began with Year 7 students hosting ‘Around the World’ information sessions in the Amphitheatre for Primary students and the Year 8 students hosting the same event in the Overture hall for the High School. They shared knowledge about different countries and cultures. Primary students took part in a creative activity, decorating handprints that were then displayed in a Harmony Hand Garden.
After recess, normal classes resumed while volunteer students assisted with setting up lunchtime activities. During lunch, students enjoyed Johnny cakes, face painting, rock painting, and a roaming photo booth, fostering a fun and inclusive atmosphere.
In the afternoon, High School students designed cultural identity handprints in class, reflecting their heritage and personal connection to Harmony Day. These handprints were then displayed on the ‘Harmony Day Board.’
A big thank you to Ellie Harrison (PD/H/PE Teacher & Year 9 Guardian) and everyone who helped make the day a success!
