High School and Senior College Report

What a fortnight we’ve had – such change and with such frequency. It seems as though we encounter change several times each day; certainly, this change is evident for all schools. Some of these changes are exciting and teachers are busy getting ready to venture into a more normal school program in the coming weeks. We have had some local incursions and excursions in the past month during Main Lesson and specialist classes to enhance learning opportunities. Year 10 are heading off on Monday to the coast for a day trip where they will bond together socially and continue to build on their teamwork. We are looking forward to having more excursions and events occurring next term.

Parent-teacher interviews are coming up in Week 10 of this term and Week 1 of next term. Bookings can now be made with teachers. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to connect on the most important aspects of our work, your children, their education and well-being.

Main Lesson reports have been uploaded on Schoolbox on your parent pages. This information can allow an opportunity for your child and you to have a conversation on their experience in this class. What did they learn? What parts of the lesson interested them? How/what could they improve on?

The final Main Lesson for Term 1 has begun last week, this will allow a new opportunity and learning experience for your children. It will challenge some as the curriculum area will have changed, others will relish in the new topics. If your child is struggling, teachers are always willing to assist. It’s important that they ask questions rather than sit quietly, other students will always benefit from further clarification.

If your child is having to isolate due to illness or COVID currently, please use Schoolbox as the first point of contact on assessments. If you are still unsure, you can contact the teacher directly via email through Schoolbox.

We look forward to seeing many parent faces in our parent-teacher meetings via Zoom in Week 10.
