Music Update

“We should not forget that… all that is musical and poetical fosters our social life… by the living and weaving in community…” – Rudolf Steiner, Practical Advice to Teachers

A strong performance programme is woven throughout the school year at Orana. Twilight Concerts are held each term. Studio concerts are presented by peripatetic music teachers to give students of all levels solo performance opportunities. There are performances in plays, at assemblies, seasonal festivals and special events. In Term 4 High School performers will present a Musical filled with singing, drama, instrumental work and choreography.

Presenting a concert or performance is beneficial on many levels. It provides a tangible goal to work for. It makes sense of the practise that is done in classes and rehearsals. It gives impetus to improve.

Concerts are times when parents can see the fruits of all the hard work and commitment that it takes to learn and practise on chosen instruments or voice. Students can recognise both where it is possible to go with their music learning and how far they have already come when they listen to older or younger groups.

At live concerts listeners and performers can be touched and uplifted by this wondrous artistic expression and be reminded that our human nature is not confined to the material world.

TWILIGHT CONCERT PERFORMANCE 4/4/2025

The Orana community is invited to our Term 1 Twilight Concert. All our volunteer ensembles and choirs will be featured along with some senior student soloists. We are proud of the students’ commitment to working together in teams and taking individual responsibility in learning their parts.

The concert will be a short and heart warming evening’s entertainment. Entry is free, and parents, friends and community are invited. Please make sure that young children in the audience sit quietly with their parents so that performers can concentrate and give their best performance.
