Reflections on a musical term – and a Musical Christmas

The term has flown by so quickly; it has been a delight to work with all of Orana’s students and see their musical growth and development. There have been many events this term where students have had opportunity to use what they have learned in enhancing and deepening special iconic occasions. There has been everything from folk-based orchestra for the Spring Fair Maypole dancing, Farewell Song singing at the Graduation Assembly, instrumental incidental music in HS and PS plays to Peripatetic Studio solo concerts.

Congratulations and thanks are particularly due to all the students who have participated outside usual school hours in Orana’s voluntary orchestras and choirs, and to their parents and carers who support them. Thanks also must be given to the dedicated band of peripatetic instrumental teachers who also support the school music programme and provide individual lessons each week to those who want them.

One of the delights of the festive season at Orana is the singing of well-known and loved carols.

This year there are two main Christmas Events:

Orana Community Christmas Festival Concert:  Friday 6/12, 5.45 till 6.45pm in Overture. This will be a voluntary, but short, heart-warming celebration of carol singing and stories for parents, students, staff and friends. A number of students from our various volunteer orchestras and choirs have been practicing hard for this. All parents, carers, staff, students and friends are welcome to attend. Cost: Free.

Christmas Assembly for students: Monday 9/12, during Main Lesson time in Overture. This event is for the students and will be a Festive themed assembly celebration in Overture.

Wishing the Orana community a very happy, musical festive season!
