Senior College Main Lesson

Senior College at Orana has started to kick into high gear. The honeymoon times of early Term 1, full of new freedoms and new opportunities, has reached its end as the students are now working through the assessment responsibilities that come along with those freedoms.

Despite their increased workload this year, the students have been engaging very well with their R-unit Main Lessons.

So far, Year 11 has taken a unit in Photography, learning the principles of design that lie behind a good photograph, as well as the practical considerations of camera usage. They have also taken a Debating unit, where they have developed their public speaking and argumentative skills. (Congratulations to Grand Final winners: Zoe F, Dylan S, and Billy B!)

Year 12 has examined the role of Mathematics within the natural environment within their Fractals unit, and they have explored the principles of Darwinism in their Evolution unit. As a part of this, they took an excursion to the National Zoo and Aquarium, where they got up close and personal with a variety of animals.
