Year 9
This term Year 9 students have been challenged to create larger paintings through the exploration of colour mixing and creating texture. The painting task focused on the Still Life. Students have been experimenting with composition to create vibrant dynamic images and learning the possibilities of the application of acrylic paint.
Year 8
Students have enjoyed the last few weeks of Term working on a Ceramics task. Students started with an investigation of Gothic Architecture and the adornment of these older buildings. Students created drawings studies of chosen gargoyles or created their own creature to model in terracotta clay. The students were challenged to build a 25cm high clay form using the coiling method, then modelling their creature with exaggerated features and details. The final stages of the making process included the application of surface texture, hollowing out areas of their work to create a large gargoyle sculpture.
