In Steiner pedagogy Festivals play a huge role. They are a time when the community can gather, celebrate and share in the enjoyment of the Festival of the season. Each festival carries its own unique significance. Providing children with an understanding of nature’s rhythms and a sense of belonging.
We are such a fortunate country here in Australia where we can celebrate each other’s culture, heritage and tradition. Last Friday in Early Childhood the children were treated to the Festival of light and lamps, Diwali or Deepawali. This lovely festival of joy and happiness brought the children of Preschool together to celebrate a shared lunch and joy in making Rangoli art at the entrance path of Kurrajong.
Thank you so much to the Gupta family for sharing this part of your culture with us, I am sure the children will take away some fond memories of Diwali – the Festival of Light.
We too are looking forward to celebrating Spring with all of you and the wider school community this coming Sunday at our Spring Fair. We might see you at one of our Puppet Shows in Bluebell.
With Love
The Early Childhood Team
