A Busy Start to Term 4 for Class 6

It has been a busy and fulfilling start to Term 4 for Class 6. We are well and truly into our Ancient Rome II Main Lesson where we have been predicting history, designing battle plans, decoding ancient laws and hearing the heroic, cruel and shocking stories of the Roman Empire. The students are currently constructing models of Roman infrastructure, architecture and weapons as part of their individual projects. We are looking forward to seeing their final creations.

Luciana’s class has been working on their class play: Julius Caesar and Rinse the Blood off My Toga. We invite you to come and learn about Roman history and bear witness to the fine singing, acting and behind-the-scenes efforts of our students.

When: 6pm Thursday 27 October

Where: The Overture

Last week Class 6 went to see the QL2 dance performance: Big Little Things. This contemporary dance production was an entertaining and thought-provoking experience. With the opportunity to hear from the choreographers and dancers at the end of the show, our students were able to delve further into the meanings and inspirations behind each piece. These included women’s rights and voices, mycelium (fungus) and the lives of working-class people.

Class 6 has continued their sustainability learning each week with students making efforts to implement, maintain and inspire sustainable practices at Orana. We have groups planning soft plastic recycling, groups sorting compost, feeding chickens, emptying bins, helping sustainability in the canteen and groups inventing bottle top washing machines.

With the end of Primary School just around the corner, Class 6 have begun sharing ideas about how to celebrate each other. A celebration committee of students have gathered. Thoughtful and meaningful celebration plans are beginning to form and we are looking forward to creating a rememberable and supportive celebration.
