It is wonderful to be back at school; the first two weeks of term have been filled with such joy!
There was a sense of excited anticipation, happiness and smiles as we welcomed our new Class 1 students on Tuesday morning Week 1 in our traditional Rose Ceremony. Together with their teacher’s Luciana and Rosalie, they are comfortably settling into the rhythm of school life. So too are our youngest students. The 2023 Kindergarten, commenced their first day of school. It is most pleasing to hear the hum of students enjoying being together as life springs back into the Orana grounds.
The Senior College cohort have already been on their first camp, a three day retreat on the South Coast to begin plans, goals and cohesion for the coming year. By all reports, they have had a wonderful time and it has been a productive few days.
Last year, our graduates impressed as they usually do with their projects and their final ATAR scores. Congratulations to our tertiary students whose median ATAR score was 88.15, with 50% of the cohort scoring an ATAR of 90 or above. It was wonderful to hear that all students who applied to enter a course at University were successful. Some have deferred University, others are taking a gap year, commencing study through other institutions or taking on a job. The aim of Steiner Education is to allow them to find their path. We wish them all well on their journey, whatever their future holds.
“Our highest endeavour must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives.”
Rudolf Steiner
I am feeling very enthusiastic about what 2023 may bring for Orana Steiner School. The atmosphere around our School builds anticipation for the exciting journeys that lie ahead, both for our students and the community.
