Áine Barker, the Executive Assistant to our Principal and Secretary to our School Board is also a local Irish teacher, and ambassador of Irish culture and traditions who recently delighted us by sharing her connection to Irish heritage on St. Patrick’s Day.
Among the many cherished aspects of Irish culture she imparted was a traditional Irish blessing: “May the road rise to meet you.” This heartfelt sentiment, rich with wisdom and love, holds a special significance for our both our school P&F shop as it resonates deeply with our values.
These blessings are shared with our Class 2 students, who will be immersed in Celtic studies this year as part of their learning.
St. Patrick’s Day, beyond its festivities, serves as a commemoration of Ireland’s beloved Patron Saint. It’s a day of celebration and reflection, honoring the rich tapestry of Irish culture and history.
As Áine beautifully expressed it, “Happy St. Patrick’s Day” translates to “Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit!” in Irish. Pronounced as “Law fayla Paw-drig Sun-a ghuit,” this greeting encapsulates the joy and warmth of the occasion, extending well wishes to all.
Áine Barker’s commitment to sharing Irish culture enriches our community, reminding us of the beauty and depth found in everyone’s heritage. Let us embrace the spirit of unity and tradition, honoring the legacy passed down through generations for us all
